Bio

Hi, I’m John Lockett.

I’m the programming director at Headspace and a writer/editor based in New York City by way of Niceville, Florida (which is as nice as it sounds).

I’ve contributed to Vanity Fair, GQ, Mr Porter, Highsnobiety and Bonobos. Notable interview subjects include Tom DeLonge, Travis Barker, Kevin Bacon, Victor Oladipo, Trae Young, Mo Bamba, Action Bronson, Padma Lakshmi, and Daniel Boulud.

As Vanity Fair's one-man social media band, I was the sole editor responsible for strategy, copy, analytics, and day-to-day community management. Under my guidance, the combined social audience grew from 1 million followers to more than 7.1 million in less than three years.

At GQ, in addition to leading social media efforts, I edited the homepage and daily newsletters and wrote about food, drinks, and Blink-182. With the photo team, I produced portrait studios at the NBA Draft and GQ's Men of the Year and Grammy's parties in LA.

My VF.com piece on the key players in the O.J. Simpson trial received more than 2.3 million page views, and my article on patchy beards was the most-read grooming story on GQ.com in 2015.

During my time as GQ's associate director of branded marketing, I developed and produced programs for Tod's, H&M, Hugo Boss, Nespresso, and Neiman Marcus.

I currently work on Headspace’s daily series The Wake Up where I manage programming & content strategy, write display copy, edit scripts, and dabble in audience engagement.
